Gratiot Integrated Health Network (GIHN) has an immediate opening for a full-time salaried Accountant. The individual for this position should be a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant with a degree in Accounting or previous experience in the role.

SALARY RANGE DEPENDENT ON DEGREE AND TIME IN ROLE: $52,020.80 - $70,200

Requirements

Preferred Education and Experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or three years experience in an Accounting position. Demonstrated understanding of accounting concepts, proficient in computer and data processing, and a minimum of one year of job-related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. 


Essential Functions.

1. Completes data and journal entries, invoicing, and reconciliations within established timeframes.

2. Assists with the preparation of salary budget, prepares assigned segments of salary budget, completes data input, updates and amendments to the salary budget and prepares salary budget reports.

3. Accurately completes the payroll process within established timeframes.

4. Accurately completes the Accounts Payable process within established timeframes,.

5. Prepares Grant Budgets, works with appropriate Department to gather information and track the related expenses.

6. Audits GIHN petty cash on an annual basis, at minimum.

7. Prepares for segments of various audits, as directed by the CFO.

8. Aids the CFO with special projects and statistical reporting related to payroll and A/P.

9. Ensures incoming financial deposits are completed in an accurate and timely fashion.

10. Ensures general ledger is in balance and posts appropriate entries as necessary.

11. Works with the provider network, including contracts, credentialing, claims adjudication, and customer service.

12. Prepares data for retirement uploads.

13. Works with Reimbursement Specialist to assure accurate and timely Accounts Receivable reporting.

14. Protects the security, confidentiality and integrity of all protected health information in a manner that is consistent with policy and procedure.

15. Assures consumers’ rights are protected and recipient rights procedures are followed throughout GIHN and its provider network.

16. Attends and actively participates in required trainings as well as seeks external education opportunities for professional growth and development.

17. Abides by all applicable GIHN policies and procedures.

18. Maintains a safe and clean work environment.

19. Performs work and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


Competencies.

Must demonstrate sensitivity, knowledge and use of appropriate approaches, skills and techniques which reflect an understanding and awareness of standard accounting practices. Extensive knowledge of computer software, specifically Microsoft Office Suite and other various accounting platforms. Must demonstrate high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Must show attention to detail in accounting practices, composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines. Must exhibit strong spelling, grammar and both oral and written communication skills.


Supervisory Responsibility.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work.

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. Some flexibility in hours is allowed but the employee is expected to be available during the core works hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. the majority of the time, and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status, unless an adjusted schedule is pre-approved. Some evening hours and weekends may be required.


Travel.

Minimal travel is expected for this position from the Alma Headquarters.
