Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities:
The Accountant / Financial Analyst assists the VP of Finance in their fiduciary role of preserving all the assets, tangible and intangible, and finances, of the Health Center, and the reporting of them to all responsible parties on a timely basis, and according to all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The position functions independently with minimal supervision and plans, coordinates and carries out those tasks necessary to meet the job responsibilities.
Specific Duties:
The Accountant/Financial Analyst assists the VP of Finance in the monthly closing process as well as other Accounting/Finance duties. This process includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following:
· Manage grants and contracts (including budgets, accounting, and reporting)
· Work with Grant Program Directors to ensure that they are aware of the grant requirements and timelines
· Participate in meetings surrounding grant and contract administration
· In conjunction with the Grants Manager, ensures funds are spent within the grant period
· Maintain Grant staffing allocations
· Prepare financial portions of the annual UDS report related to grants and other income
· Produce General Ledger reporting as needed
· Complete 340B self-audits monthly, as assigned by Sr. Accountant, by the 25th of the month
· Assist in annual year-end audit and applicable site audits
· Complete annual filings for CHC Holdings including, but not limited to the IRS 990, MA PC and the 3ABC report
· Prepare monthly standard journal entries and supporting schedules as needed
· Prepare and update various account reconciliations (balance sheet and income statement accounts) on a monthly basis, and in a timely manner
· Maintain Fixed Asset sub-ledger, depreciation schedules, Fixed Asset journal entries, and reconciliation of the sub-ledger to the general ledger
· Manage prepaid expense and insurance accounts, and their recurring journal entries
· Effectively manage workload to produce high quality work on time, within a deadline driven environment
· Perform all other job-related duties that may be assigned,

Minimum Qualifications:
· Undergraduate degree (from an accredited institution), major in Accounting or Finance required.
· 2 to 5 years applicable accounting experience—preferably experience with grants and payroll.
· Prior experience in a non-profit setting (preferably healthcare).
· Advanced computer skills. Strong Excel spreadsheet and database management skills required.
· Demonstrated experience in administrative policies and practices
· Ability to function independently with minimal supervision. Ability to plan, coordinate and carry out those tasks necessary to meet the job responsibilities.
· Team player with ability to deal with sensitive information in a highly confidential manner.
· Proactive and analytical problem solving skills.
· Excellent organizational and communication skills.
· Proficient in reading and writing in English.

Environmental Working Conditions: The environment is a normal office environment of a busy Community Health Center.
Physical and Mental Requirements: The physical and mental demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job with or without a reasonable accommodation. The ability to sit for extended periods of time is required. The position requires the ability to self transport to local meetings and meetings at other CHC sites.
