ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. Core Responsibilities · Oversees the preparation of periodic financial statements and the corporate annual report. · Ensures that financial reports comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards. · Assists external auditors and provides required statements and information for the annual audit. · Reviews budget reports and assists other departments to prepare annual budgets. · Coordinates the preparation of the corporate tax return. · Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures. · Complies with local, state, and federal government requirements. · Identifies and recommends updates to accounting processes and procedures. · Oversees Accounting operations, which include financial accounting, accounts payable, and payroll. · Implements training for new hires and identifies training opportunities for current staff. · Oversees the system of internal controls over accounting functions to minimize risk · Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department. · Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements. · Maintains the general ledger. · Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books. · Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks. · Reconciles accounts and manages accounts receivable collections. · Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts. · Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit. · Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies. · As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software. · Performs other related duties as assigned.   COMPETENCIES (KSAs) · Leadership · Initiative · Ethical Practices · Judgment · Relationship Management · Emotional Intelligence · Professional Boundaries · Global and Cultural Awareness · Critical Evaluation · Problem Solving · Decision Making · Communication · Teamwork · Crisis Management · Technical Capacity     QualificationsREQUIRED EDUCATION · Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Business Administration required   LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS · CPA (preferred)   EXPERIENCE · Three to Five years of related experience required. · Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting. · Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles. · Highly proficient with accounting software. · Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. · Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.   WORK ENVIRONMENT · This job operates in an indoor office environment.
