JOB SUMMARY:
Our behavioral health group practice is seeking an experienced part-time Accounting Assistant to work approximately 20 hours per week in our Irvine-based office. We offer flexible hours to meet your needs such as 4 hrs/day or 2-3 full days a week.
Our behavioral health group practice is seeking an experienced part-time Accounting Assistant to work approximately 20 hours per week in our Irvine-based office. We offer flexible hours to meet your needs such as 4 hrs/day or 2-3 full days a week.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a number of tasks requiring a knowledge of accounting, bookkeeping, HR, and office functions as needed for a medical office environment. Knowledge of medical billing and insurance claims are a plus but not required.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
· Process semimonthly payroll
· Enter bank deposits
· Manage HR functions such as employee benefit eligibility and enrollment in health coverage programs
· Assist in new employee onboarding in connect of HR functions
· Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, and account management
· Manage A/P and some A/R (limited)
· Prepare financial reports
· Prepare budgets and analyze performance
· Follow all regulations and guidelines established by HIPAA, Medicare, state programs, and licensing boards.
· Ability to interface with patients, as needed.
· Ability to contribute to the overall mission and values of the group practice.
· Other duties as assigned.
If this position evolves to full-time, additional medical office functions might include the following:
o Post patient and insurance payments to medical office software program
o Process credit card payments
o Interface with behavioral health providers regarding patient status on visits and claims
o Prepare and submit claims using CMS 1500 format.
o Audit and correct all rejected claims.
o Complete data entry of patient demographics and insurance information.
o Call for verification of benefits.
o Contact insurance companies to resolve billing issues.
o Initiate or respond to calls with patients.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The minimum qualifications for this position include:
· 2+ years of experience in an office environment
· Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, health care, finance or business-related field preferred.
· Proficiency with QuickBooks
· Familiarity with ADP or similar payroll platform
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Strong organizational skills
· Self-motivated and self-directed.
· Ability to multitask and prioritize.
· Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
