Summary:
The Accounting Manager owns the month-end close, financial reporting, and day-to-day supervision of the accounting team. The role ensures U.S. GAAP compliance maintains internal controls (SOX-aligned) and drives cross-functional initiatives that improve the accuracy, speed, and insight of financial information.
Job Responsibilities:
Month-End Close: Coordinate all close activities (AP, AR, inventory, R&D, fixed assets, accruals). Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules within the close window.
Financial Reporting & Analysis: Produce timely and accurate balance-sheet, income-statement, and cash-flow reports. Analyze variances versus budget/forecast, highlighting key business drivers. Deliver monthly and quarterly management reporting packages.
Internal Controls & Compliance: Design, document, and test SOX-aligned controls. Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP, federal/state tax rules, and company policies. Coordinate external audits and regulatory examinations, mitigating financial-statement risk.
Process & Systems Improvement: Optimize ERP workflows (NetSuite) and automate reconciliations to shorten the close cycle. Lead finance-related projects (new module implementations, system integrations).
Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor 2-3 accountants (senior, staff, AP/AR specialists). Set goals, provide real-time feedback. Deliver training on technical accounting topics and foster continuous learning.
Ad-Hoc Support: Partner with FP&A on budgeting and forecasting. Prepare technical accounting memos and support investment due-diligence work.
Other finance/accounting related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Certification: Active CPA license (or in process).
Experience:
6–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years leading a team.
Proven ownership of month-end close and financial-statement preparation in a U.S. GAAP environment; public-company or SOX exposure preferred.
Technical Skills:
Advanced Excel skills and hands-on ERP experience (NetSuite strongly preferred).
Familiarity with BI/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau) and workflow-automation platforms.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical mindset and ability to translate data into actionable insights.
Excellent written and verbal communication; effective cross-department partnership.
Proven ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Big 4 or large regional public-accounting background.
Industry experience in medical devices, e-commerce, or manufacturing
Knowledge of multi-entity or international consolidation, transfer pricing, and intercompany eliminations.
