Assistant Controller

Position Summary

Reporting to the Controller, this role will be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations, supporting month-end and year-end processes, and stepping into a leadership role as needed. We’re looking for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform journal entries, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance

• Manage accounts payable and receivable; follow up on outstanding balances and build strong relationships with client payables departments

• Assist with month-end and year-end closings, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting

• Prepare for and support annual audits

• Provide leadership and oversight within the department in the absence of the Controller

• Participate in ongoing efforts to improve accounting procedures, systems, and internal controls

• Support special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a multi-site, service-based or managed services environment

• Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel

• Experience with accounts receivable management, including client communications and collections

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and take initiative in a team-based setting

• Comfortable navigating the accounting needs of a growing, hands-on operation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the contract food service, hospitality, or healthcare industry

• Exposure to multi-entity accounting

• Prior experience leading or supervising accounting team members
