This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AVP, Finance based in the United States.

This senior finance leadership role is responsible for driving financial strategy, planning, and operational oversight across business units and corporate functions. You will act as a key strategic partner to executive leadership, ensuring financial integrity, transparency, and alignment with organizational goals. The role spans budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and financial modeling to support both growth initiatives and operational efficiency. You will influence major business decisions through data-driven insights, scenario analysis, and performance evaluation. This position also plays a critical role in supporting M&A activity, bid strategy, and enterprise-level financial planning. It is a highly visible leadership role requiring strong analytical capability, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable strategy.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will lead enterprise financial planning and analysis activities, ensuring accurate forecasting, strategic alignment, and effective financial decision-making across the organization.

  • Oversee annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes across business units and corporate functions
  • Lead budget-to-actual analysis and provide actionable insights to executives and business leaders to drive performance improvements
  • Partner with senior leadership to develop financial strategies that support growth, cost optimization, and operational efficiency
  • Support M&A activity, RFPs, bids, and new business initiatives through financial modeling, pro forma analysis, and scenario planning
  • Manage workforce planning tools and financial systems to support accurate forecasting and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory frameworks including GAAP and internal audit requirements
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis, trend evaluations, and executive reporting to support strategic decision-making
  • Lead, mentor, and develop finance team members while overseeing departmental budgets and staffing decisions

Requirements

This role requires extensive financial leadership experience, strong technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to influence executive-level decision-making in a complex, data-driven environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; MBA preferred
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, including at least 8 years in leadership roles
  • Strong expertise in FP&A, financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP and/or statutory accounting principles and internal control frameworks
  • Experience in healthcare or managed care environments preferred
  • Proficiency with financial systems and tools such as SAP, SAC, BPC, or similar BI platforms
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, develop, and motivate high-performing teams
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities with strong attention to detail
  • Advanced communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, including executives and auditors
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or FP&A certification preferred
