Position Overview
The Controller will manage and execute all aspects of the company's accounting operations and financial reporting. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented finance leader who can balance day-to-day accounting management with strategic insight to support growth. As a key member of the team, the Controller will ensure accuracy, compliance, and transparency in financial operations while driving process improvements and supporting executive decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the actively participate in daily accounting operations, including general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, payroll processing, A/R and A/P management.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Own the month-end and year-end close process, driving timeliness and reducing errors.
- Perform and review the consolidation of multiple entities, ensuring intercompany transactions and eliminations are properly recorded.
- Develop, document, and implement internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets.
- Partner with leadership on cash flow management, working capital optimization, and financial strategy.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors and banking partners.
- Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and automation to increase efficiency and scalability.
- Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred).
- 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including leadership in a mid-sized company.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting - knowledge of compliance requirements specific to the transportation and logistics industry a plus.
- Hands-on experience with ERP/accounting systems (Net Suite)
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-growing environment and balance both strategic and tactical responsibilities.

Pay Range:
The annual salary range for this position is as follows:
$100,000 to $140,000 per year
Compensation for roles at Tobin varies based on factors such as office location, role responsibilities, relevant experience, education, and specific skill sets. As required by local law, Tobin provides a reasonable, good‑faith compensation range for positions hired in Massachusetts. Actual pay will reflect job‑related qualifications, geographic considerations, and other applicable factors.
