Job Description
MONTICELLOAM, LLC and its affiliates (“Monticello”) is a real estate and asset-based lender providing asset management and comprehensive capital solutions for healthcare, multifamily, and commercial real estate assets throughout the US. We are seeking a Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance across Monticello’s portfolio company, Trustwell Living, which owns and manages assisted living communities nationwide. The primary responsibilities and qualifications include:
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and financial reporting across multiple assisted living communities.
- Prepare and review consolidated GAAP financial statements and ensure timely month-end and year-end close.
- Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; manage annual audits and external advisors.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis in partnership with leadership.
- Manage and develop accounting staff and partner with operations to support business objectives.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Oversee cash management, bank accounts, disbursements, and payment controls.
- Ensure timely bank reconciliations, cash forecasting, and funding of payroll and vendor payments.
- Track capital expenditures and support liquidity planning and reporting.
Technology & Data
- Lead finance systems strategy, including ERP, AP, payroll, and reporting tools.
- Manage data integrity, system implementations, and migrations, ensuring accuracy, controls, and scalability.
- Drive process improvement, automation, and standardized reporting across communities.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior management or controller role.
- Experience in property level accounting.
- Prior experience in assisted living, healthcare, multi family or multi-site operations strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Netsuite Oracle, AVID, Ramp, Sage Intacct, Aline (or comparable senior living software) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Kyriba or similar treasury management systems preferred but not required.
- Experience in Corporate and fund accountancy preferred but not required.
- Work in the office, as required by office policy

Monticello offers a competitive base salary and bonus. The base salary range for this position is $120,000-$160,000/year. The specific compensation that will be offered is based on an understanding of the hired candidates' qualifications at the time of hire. Employees are eligible for a discretionary bonus based on employee and company performance reviewed during the annual review process.
