This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Controller (Sr. Director of Accounting) based in the United States.

This is a senior finance leadership role responsible for overseeing the full accounting function within a fast-growing, mission-driven healthcare organization. You will bring strong technical accounting expertise and hands-on leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and scalable accounting operations. The role combines strategic oversight with operational execution, covering close processes, audits, consolidations, and compliance with US GAAP standards. You will lead and develop an accounting team while partnering closely with finance leadership to support strategic decision-making and organizational growth. Accountabilities:
  • Lead and oversee all core accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, revenue recognition, tax activities, and consolidated financial reporting across multiple entities.
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with US GAAP, including reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Prepare and present financial statements and management reports, delivering clear insights to support executive decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Manage external audits end-to-end, coordinating with auditors and ensuring audit readiness, documentation accuracy, and timely resolution of findings.
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to ensure financial integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency across accounting processes.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Partner with finance and strategy leadership to provide financial insights, support strategic initiatives, and enhance overall financial operations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; active CPA license required.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with a strong audit foundation and exposure to complex accounting environments.
  • Proven experience owning full-cycle accounting operations, including multi-entity financial consolidation and reporting.
  • Hands-on experience managing external audits and ensuring compliance with US GAAP standards.
  • Strong experience with ERP systems, particularly NetSuite or similar general ledger platforms.
  • 4+ years of people management experience, with a track record of leading and developing accounting teams.
  • Advanced analytical skills with strong proficiency in Excel and/or Google Sheets for financial modeling and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
