The Director of Accounting is a strategic and detail-oriented leader responsible for overseeing Second Sight’s accounting operations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise and leadership capabilities, and will help scale processes, strengthen financial operations, and drive business performance. This position reports directly to the VP of Finance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee the preparation of all necessary financial statements, and partner with FP&A Manager to ensure that all financial reporting is accurate and timely
Own management of cash balances and any potential lines of credit
Partner with FP&A manager on forecasting of cash needs
Completion of annual audit and coordination with auditors on technical matters
Supervise tax consultants in maintaining partnership accounts, K-1s, partner communications and managing partnership filings/compliance and sales & usage tax filings
Liaison with corporate tax team of parent to transition preparation of income tax provision and other tax related entries for GAAP accounting
Manage the processing of all accounts payables and receivables, including application of cash receipts
Monitor the accuracy of financial data and ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded
Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
Partner with VP – Finance and FP&A Manager to provide financial guidance and support to department heads, and ensure that all financial decisions are in alignment with the organization’s strategic goals

Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting and finance preferred
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
Advanced knowledge of GAAP and federal and state tax laws
Strong organizational and time management skills
Able to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with large ERP (such as Workday or SAP)
Experience working for a technology development company
Led/participated in implementation of an ERP
Led design of processes and procedures for material aspects of an accounting department
Candidate must be able to submit verification of his/her legal right to work in the U.S., without company sponsorship.
Salary Range: $160,000 - $180,000
