  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by staff; ensure completeness, accuracy, and appropriate cutoff
  • Analyze balance sheet and income statement activity for unusual fluctuations; coordinate corrections, reclassifications, and true-ups with full supporting documentation
  • Oversee all core accounting areas including revenue and medical expense, capitalized software, leases, payroll and bonuses, and other operating accruals
  • Partner with the Controller on technical accounting research, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, capitalization policy, and positions requiring regulatory review
  • Partner with FP&A to refine a robust cash forecasting model that improves forecast accuracy and visibility into liquidity
  • Oversee accounts payable and expense management operations, including vendor onboarding, invoice processing, approval workflows, payment execution, employee reimbursements, and corporate card administration
  • Maintain effective policies, controls, and training over employee expenses, corporate cards, and policy exceptions
  • Continuously improve AP and expense management processes to reduce manual effort, strengthen compliance, and enhance employee experience
  • Support in defining and implementing the accounting team's technology roadmap; identify and implement tools and integrations that reduce manual close processes and improve real-time financial visibility
  • Serve as an active evaluator of emerging tools and platforms; make recommendations to the Controller on investments that improve accuracy, efficiency, or control
  • Build sustainable, repeatable processes and effective controls around complex accounting estimates
  • Assist in designing and documenting an enterprise risk assessment and the internal control environment
  • Partner with the Corporate Controller as the primary operational point of contact for internal and external auditors on documentation, reconciliations, flux analysis, and supporting schedules
  • Support the Controller on financial statement preparation and regulatory submissions
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors on provision support and tax planning initiatives; ensure timely delivery of tax-relevant schedules and manage recurring state and local compliance filings
  • Support initiatives that enhance the scalability, governance, and readiness of the accounting and financial reporting functions as the organization grows
  • Partner with the Controller and external advisors on strategic finance initiatives, including efforts to strengthen the organization’s long-term financial flexibility and capital structure
  • Lead, coach, and develop the team through the establishment of clear priorities, regular check-ins, timely feedback, and performance development
  • Manage workload allocation and maintain backup coverage to ensure deadlines are met during close, audit, and other high-volume periods

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and active CPA license required
  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP, with demonstrated experience researching, documenting, and operationalizing complex accounting conclusions
  • Big 4 or large regional public accounting experience required; audit background strongly preferred
  • Healthcare or life sciences industry experience preferred; value-based care or risk-based contract environment a plus
  • Experience with or meaningful exposure to IPO readiness, SEC reporting, S-1 preparation, or SOX compliance implementation strongly preferred
