A Day in the Life
The Director of Finance, Pricing & Contracting will report to the Vice President Finance, Global Commercial Office and will serve as the primary finance business partner to the Vice President Global Pricing & Contracting, providing strategic financial insight, decision support, and thought partnership across pricing and contracting priorities. This role provides end-to-end financial leadership across global pricing strategy, offer development, contract and tender management, contract performance, and contract operations. This includes strategic leadership and management of a multi- year digital technology transformation program. This role also ensures financial discipline across personnel, discretionary spending, and operational processes.At Medtronic, we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we do. Strategic Finance Business Partnership
- Provide forward looking financial insights to support strategy, prioritization, and execution
- Partner with Global Pricing & Contracting leadership to evaluate trade offs across pricing strategies, contract structures, investments and operational capacity
- Support development of multi-year roadmaps and business cases aligned to enterprise growth and margin objectives
- Partner with Corporate FP&A, Operating Unit and Regional CFOs to drive alignment and accountability
Analytics, Insights & Performance Management
- Lead development of advanced analytics to assess price performance, customer profitability, contract economics, and gross to net drivers
- Build and maintain financial models to evaluate pricing actions, contract scenarios, and strategic initiatives, translating complexity into clear recommendations
- Provide scenario analysis and sensitivity modeling to inform leadership decisions and corrective actions
- Support margin improvement initiatives
- Monitor pricing performance, contract leakage, rebate utilization, and post-deal profitability
Cost Management and Resource Optimization
- Accountable for setting Annual Operating Plan, Strategic Plan and forecasting for Pricing and Contracting operating and capital expenses
- Accountable for the management of Pricing and Contracting headcount and operating expenses, ensuring alignment to strategic priorities
- Identify cost optimization opportunities across pricing and contracting while maintaining service levels
- Monitor productivity, cost-to-service and ROI of operating model changes and investments
Process Excellence & Digital Enablement
- Drive continuous improvement and standardization of pricing and contracting finance processes.
- Partner closely on system modernization and organizational transformation initiatives, ensuring rigorous business cases, ROI measurement and value tracking frameworks. This includes building and reporting measurable impact metrics tied to productivity, automation, cost efficiency, and commercial value creation across regions and operating units.
- Improve cycle times, transparency, and forecast accuracy across pricing and contracting workflows.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach and develop analysts, providing clear priorities, feedback and development plans
- Build deep subject matter expertise and business acumen within the role, ensuring strong capability in pricing strategy, contract economics and operations
- Actively mentor and upskill analysts to increase impact, independence and enterprise thinking
- Foster a culture of ethics and accountability
- Extend leadership impact beyond direct reports by influencing cross functional partners and contributing to broader Finance capability building and best practice sharing
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 10 years of finance, pricing and/or contracting experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of finance, pricing and/or contracting experience with 7+ years of managerial experience
Nice to Have:
- CPA, CMA and/or MBA
- Experience in med-tech, healthcare, or life sciences
- Advanced financial modeling, analytics, and executive communication skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with senior management and external stakeholders
- Strategic thinking and ability to translate business objectives into financial strategies
- Deep expertise in pricing, contracting, rebates, and chargebacks
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition, gross-to-net dynamics
- Proven ability to lead in a matrixed, fast-paced commercial environment
- Excellent decision making, analytical, and problem solving abilities with attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience driving business transformation and process improvement initiatives
- Global experience

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
