Position Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on FP&A Director to lead financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, modeling, and performance analysis across the organization.
This is a player-coach role requiring meaningful ownership of detailed financial modeling and grant/contract-level forecasting. The Director will personally build, maintain, and refine projections—particularly in the near term—while developing a scalable FP&A function. Success in this role requires comfort working deeply in the details, independently researching variances, updating assumptions, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial outputs before delegating to a growing team.
This regular, full-time, exempt, non-union role is based in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle, with onsite presence required at least three days per week (Tuesday – Thursday).
QualificationsEssential Duties:
Strategic Planning & Forecasting
Lead monthly, quarterly, and long-range forecasting processes, including detailed grant/contract-level projections
Track assumption changes and proactively update forecasts based on operational developments
Conduct rigorous variance analysis to identify root causes and refine projections
Ensure forecasting models are structured, transparent, and scalable
Build financial models for new initiatives, including pay-for-service and retail programs, to guide planning and investment decisions
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Own monthly and quarterly reporting packages, including executive and board materials
Deliver clear, data-driven insights on performance, risks, and opportunities
Maintain accuracy, consistency, and integrity of financial data and assumptions
Develop and refine financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools
Lead ad hoc financial analysis and modeling to support strategic initiatives, operational decisions, and executive requests
Budgeting & Operational Financial Oversight
Develop and manage detailed budgets at both the agency and individual grant/contract level
Monitor performance against grant/contract-level projections and adjust as needed
Build disciplined processes for change tracking, documentation, and version control
In the long term, lead the agency-wide annual budgeting process end-to-end
Team Leadership
Operate initially as a hands-on leader while expanding the FP&A function
Hire, mentor, and develop analysts as the team grows
Ensure team output reflects strong technical accuracy and model integrity
Establish scalable processes to support long-term growth

What Success Looks Like in the First 12 Months
This role combines strategic leadership with meaningful hands-on ownership of detailed financial modeling, forecasting, reporting, and budgeting processes.
First 90 Days
Develop a strong understanding of our business model, grant/contract structures, revenue streams, and cost drivers
Gain fluency in existing forecasting models and financial reporting processes
Take ownership of grant/contract forecast updates, assumption tracking, and variance analysis
Identify opportunities to strengthen model structure, documentation, and reporting clarity
Months 4–6
Fully own the agency-wide fiscal year forecast, including monthly updates and assumption refinement
Deliver reliable grant/contract-level projections with clearly documented assumptions
Implement consistent processes for tracking forecast changes and updating projections in a timely manner
Begin shaping the structure and capabilities needed to support a growing FP&A function
Months 7–12
Assume full ownership of monthly and quarterly financial reporting package preparation
Develop and manage detailed budgets at both the agency and individual grant/contract level
Serve as the internal expert on forecasting mechanics, financial drivers, and model assumptions
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA or CPA a plus)
8+ years of progressive FP&A experience; consumer products industry experience preferred
3+ years of experience in budgeting at an organization-wide level
3+ years of experience managing direct reports and high-performance teams
Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills, including detailed and grant/contract-level forecasting
Proficiency in Excel and financial systems
Clear, concise communication skills with the ability to present to executive leadership
Demonstrated ability to independently analyze variances, troubleshoot models, and operate in a dynamic, growth-oriented environmen

Work Environment
This regular, full-time, exempt, non-union role is based in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle, with onsite presence required at least three days per week (Tuesday – Thursday).
This position operates in a professional office environment and requires extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional standing, walking, and light lifting of up to 20 pounds may be required to support office or event needs. The role may also involve occasional attendance at events or activities that take place outside of normal office settings or standard business hours.
