This role involves maintaining general ledger accounts, performing bank and account reconciliations, processing payroll and vendor payments, and preparing financial statements. The Healthcare Accountant works closely with clinical and administrative teams to track revenue from insurance reimbursements, grants, and patient services while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and reporting requirements. The Accountant also support month-end and year-end close, assist with audits, prepare tax and regulatory filings, and help maintain internal controls that protect sensitive financial and patient-related data. Ā  By ensuring accurate financial reporting and efficient use of resources, healthcare accountants play a critical role in supporting patient care, organizational growth, and regulatory compliance Ā  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Ā  Listed below are the essential duties and responsibilities of this position. Maintain and apply specialized knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures. Process checks, payments, and ensure accurate and timely accounts payable disbursements, payroll calculations and allocations, and cash flow projections. Prepare and/or assist with bi-monthly payroll allocations and reimbursement across multiple entities. Research, reconcile, and process vendor and investor invoices and payments. Enter and review cash receipts and accounts payable invoices; reconcile accounts receivable between accounting software, bank accounts, and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. Perform monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile accounts receivable and other balance sheet accounts. Monitor daily bank activity and assist in analyzing and resolving irregularities or discrepancies. Assist with the preparation and review of monthly financial statements for internal distribution; notify the Accounting Manager of any issues identified. Analyze company ledgers and loan accounts to determine accurate payoff amounts. Demonstrate a strong understanding of general ledger accounting and assist in preparing financial statements for management review. Prepare year-end required filings, including but not limited to 1099s, 1098s, 1095s, and W-2s. Assist in maintaining internal systems and controls to ensure the integrity of financial processes and data. Prepare and/or assist with month-end close activities. Perform other duties as assigned by management. QualificationsQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:Ā  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position. Ā  Education & Experience Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of two (2) years of accounting or relevant professional experience. Healthcare industry experience preferred but not required. Ā  Skills & Knowledge Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner. Ability to collaborate effectively with a team of accounting professionals in support of equitable, non-discriminatory care for underserved patient populations. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, Outlook and Sage Intacct. Ability to learn and utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (e.g., IMS, EPIC, Dentrix). Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-volume environment and adapt to urgent or last-minute changes. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving skills, and sound judgment. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Commitment to providing excellent customer and patient service. Ability to adhere to all health center policies and procedures, including safety, employment, and care services. Ā  PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to handle or feel objects. The employee may also be required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 20 pounds may be required. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
