Senior Accountant
Salary Range: $85,000 to $90,000 Base + Bonus
Job Purpose
The Senior Accountant is a key contributor to the consolidated financial close, reporting, and control environment for U.S. operations. This role requires technical accounting acumen, advanced analytical abilities, and hands-on experience with ERP systems and accounting automation.
Principal Accountabilities
Financial Close & General Ledger
- Own components of the month-end consolidation close process, including consolidation journal entries (Intercompany eliminations, Consolidation reclasses), ensuring timely completion, accuracy, and adherence to established close timelines.
- Maintain and enforce chart of accounts structure and proper financial classification.
Account Reconciliations & Balance Sheet Integrity
- Perform and review consolidated balance sheet reconciliations with full supporting schedules, ensuring timely completion, accuracy, and resolution of reconciling items.
- Investigate reconciling items, aged balances, and unusual transactions.
Technical Accounting
- Research, document, and implement accounting treatment for transactions such as revenue recognition (ASC 606) and lease accounting (ASC 842).
- Draft technical memos and accounting position papers.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Perform in-depth financial statement analysis.
- Support the preparation of cash flow statements and analysis
- Assist in the preparation of internal and external reporting packages
Audit & Controls
- Serve as liaison with external auditors.
- Prepare audit schedules, PBC (Provided by Client) requests, and support walkthroughs.
- Identify control gaps and implement remediation plans.
- Enhance internal control framework and documentation.
Process Improvement
- Identify inefficiencies in accounting processes and lead optimization initiatives.
- Standardize close timelines and documentation procedures. Implement best practices in financial reporting and reconciliation automation.
- Identify and implement automation and process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across close and reconciliation activities.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 2-5+ years of progressive public accounting or 4-7+ years of industry experience, with strong emphasis on analytical, non-routine, and judgment-driven work.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to research and interpret complex transactions.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial close, reporting, and consolidation tools. (IFS and Planful systems preferred).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of complex formulas, data analysis, and financial modeling techniques.
- Strong understanding of financial statement architecture and interdependencies, intercompany eliminations, revenue recognition, and cost accounting principles.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in analyzing accounting matters and recommending appropriate treatment.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, including document accounting conclusions and communicating with management and auditors.
- Ability to work onsite as required and perform prolonged computer-based work in an office and light manufacturing environment.
- CPA or equivalent professional accounting certification preferred.
