About the Role
The Briarwood Community is hiring a Senior Accountant to join our Finance Team. This is a hands-on role for an experienced accounting professional who works well independently, enjoys digging into the details, and takes pride in bringing accounts to a clean, zero-variance reconciliation.
You'll own bank reconciliations, journal entries, payroll-related entries, and general ledger accuracy — while helping support month-end close, audits, and financial reporting for a mission-driven organization. What You'll Do
- Prepare and complete bank reconciliations to zero variance
- Research and resolve discrepancies and outstanding reconciling items
- Prepare, organize, and post journal entries and supporting documentation
- Prepare weekly payroll-related journal entries
- Maintain general ledger accounts and supporting schedules
- Perform account reconciliations and analysis
- Support month-end and year-end close
- Assist with accruals, adjusting entries, and other GL transactions
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Support external audits and financial reporting requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong background in bank and account reconciliations
- Experience preparing and posting journal entries
- Payroll accounting experience preferred
- Solid understanding of GL accounting, month-end close, and GAAP
- Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP software
- Healthcare, senior living, nonprofit, or multi-entity accounting experience a plus
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities independently
