Job Description
We Breathe Life Into Data
At Komodo Health, our mission is to reduce the global burden of disease. And we believe that smarter use of data is essential to this mission. That’s why we built the Healthcare Map — the industry’s largest, most complete, precise view of the U.S. healthcare system — by combining de-identified, real-world patient data with innovative algorithms and decades of clinical experience. The Healthcare Map serves as our foundation for a powerful suite of software applications, helping us answer healthcare’s most complex questions for our partners. Across the healthcare ecosystem, we’re helping our clients unlock critical insights to track detailed patient behaviors and treatment patterns, identify gaps in care, address unmet patient needs, and reduce the global burden of disease.
As we pursue these goals, it remains essential to us that we stay grounded in our values: be awesome, seek growth, deliver “wow,” and enjoy the ride. At Komodo, you will be joining a team of ambitious, supportive Dragons with diverse backgrounds but a shared passion to deliver on our mission to reduce the burden of disease — and enjoy the journey along the way.
Komodo Health is seeking a visionary and highly quantitative Senior Director of FP&A and Corporate Development to drive our financial strategy, support executive decision-making, and lead strategic initiatives, including M&A and capital deployment. This role is built for a hands-on leader who thrives at the intersection of strategic finance, operational planning, and corporate transactions in a high-growth, complex SaaS environment.
You will leverage your deep background in investment banking and corporate development to assess strategic opportunities, optimize capital structure, and provide the financial narrative required for investor relations and potential public market activities.
Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo Health, you will have accomplished…
- Led Strategic Financial Planning: Defined and executed the annual operating plan, long-range forecast model, and scenario-based planning (including bookings, expense, and cash burn scenarios) that directly influenced resource allocation and executive decisions.
- Driven Strategic Investment Analysis: Successfully evaluated and recommended at least two major strategic opportunities via comprehensive Build vs. Buy vs. Partner analysis, securing executive approval for key capability gaps.
- Optimized Business Performance: Designed and maintained advanced SaaS KPI models (e.g., ARR, NDR, ARPU, Churn/Contraction/Expansion) across products, regions, and customer cohorts, providing actionable insights to optimize go-to-market strategies and retention efforts.
- Enhanced Investor Readiness: Developed and maintained the analyst guidance model and supporting financial narrative, ensuring Komodo Health is prepared for future capital raising or public market events (IPO).
- Formalized Corporate Development Process: Established a strong governance and modeling framework for evaluating acquisition targets, including due diligence support and pro forma financial integration modeling.
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Lead the corporate budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning (LRP) processes. Partner with business leaders (Sales, Marketing, Engineering) to formulate monthly forecasts and allocate annual budgets exceeding $100 million.
- Corporate Development & M&A: Serve as the financial lead for corporate development activities, including target identification, valuation modeling, financial due diligence, and pro forma integration modeling for potential acquisitions.
- Strategic Investment Modeling: Conduct detailed financial analysis for major capital expenditures, such as break-even analysis for new cloud region investments (e.g., AWS Region) or significant R&D initiatives, including calculation of required sales productivity and path to profitability.
- SaaS Metrics & Business Intelligence: Own the key operational and financial metrics deck for the Board of Directors and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR). Automate and drive consistency in reporting SaaS KPIs (NDR, ARR, ARPU, churn, etc.) across the organization.
- Investor Relations & Capital Planning: Produce supporting financial analysis and presentation materials for investor relations, banking partners, and other external advisors, specifically related to potential capital raising (IPO/Follow-on offerings) and deployment of proceeds.
- Team Leadership & Development: Build, mentor, and manage the strategic finance function, ensuring clear alignment of deliverables with executive needs and strong business partnership.
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics. 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, including significant time in corporate FP&A/Strategic Finance roles at a high-growth technology or SaaS company.
- Investment Banking / Corporate Development Foundation: Proven experience in investment banking, corporate development, or strategic M&A roles, including direct involvement in deal execution (diligence, valuation, integration modeling) and capital raising (IPO, S-1 preparation).
- Advanced Financial Modeling: Expert-level ability to construct and maintain complex, scenario-based financial models (LRP, Use-of-Funds, Valuation, Integration) utilizing advanced Excel skills.
- SaaS Domain Expertise: Deep knowledge of SaaS business models, metrics (NDR, ARR decomposition), and the financial impacts of revenue model transitions (e.g., usage-based vs. subscription).
- Executive Business Partnership: Exceptional communication and proven ability to operate as a strategic partner to C-level executives (CEO, CFO, CRO) and translate complex financial data into actionable business insights.
- System Proficiency: Strong command of financial planning software (e.g., Adaptive), CRM (Salesforce), and ERP (NetSuite).
- Leverage approved AI tools to streamline workflows in data ingestion, cleansing, and report generation, minimizing time spent on manual analysis.
- Proactively identify opportunities to use AI/ML modeling techniques (e.g., advanced forecasting algorithms) to enhance the accuracy and granularity of financial and sales capacity models.
- Direct experience leading the S-1 preparation process and interacting with public market analysts and investors.
- Experience in the Life Sciences, Healthcare, or Healthcare Technology sector.
- CPA or MBA is a plus.
