Job Description

The Senior Revenue Accountant is responsible for the accurate recording, analysis, and reporting of revenue in accordance with ASC 606. This role focuses on financial reporting, month-end close, revenue analytics, and maintaining revenue-related schedules. The position is ideal for someone who is technically strong, highly analytical, and comfortable working with large datasets and cross-functional partners to enhance visibility into revenue performance. 


*This is a remote role.

 

What you will do: 

  • Execute monthly revenue close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, contract asset/liability roll forwards, and variance analysis.
  • Maintain and validate revenue schedules, deferral balances, and revenue allocations in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Analyze historical revenue patterns to ensure consistent application of revenue policies and identify anomalies or trends.
  • Support preparation of audit-ready documentation related to revenue, deferred revenue, and contract assets/liabilities.
  • Perform trend analysis on volumes, pricing, revenue mix, payor/service-line trends, discounts, and revenue drivers.
  • Develop ad hoc analyses to support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic initiatives.
  • Reconcile actual revenue vs. forecast/budget and provide insights to explain variances.
  • Support development of automated reporting and data models to streamline revenue insights and improve data accuracy.
  • Prepare management-level reporting summarizing revenue fluctuations and trends.
  • Support in building and maintain recurring revenue dashboards, KPIs, and internal reporting packages for Finance leadership.
  • Work cross-functionally with Revenue Cycle, FP&A, Operations, and Data team’s to accomplish organizational priorities
  • Optimize ERP and revenue module configuration to ensure accurate data flow and reporting 
  • Support implementation, enhancement, or optimization of revenue automation tools 
  • Maintain strong data integrity by performing systematic reconciliations between the ERP, subledgers, and revenue analytics tools.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend scalable improvements to support growth and improve reporting quality.
  • Assist in documentation of revenue accounting processes, controls, and standard work.
  • Prepare audit schedules and support external auditors with detailed explanations of revenue activity and accounting treatment.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, ASC 606, and company revenue recognition policies.
  • Maintain and update internal controls related to revenue accounting and reporting.
  • Assumes other responsibilities as appropriate to the position and organizational needs.

 

Qualifications: 

Required 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 4–7+ years of revenue accounting or general accounting experience (public accounting + industry preferred).
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606 and revenue recognition concepts.
  • Experience working with ERP or revenue automation tools (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Zuora, Salesforce, etc.).
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred 

  • CPA or CPA eligible.
  • Experience in healthcare and multi-location service businesses.
  • Exposure to cash waterfall modeling and revenue systems implementation.


Compensation Range: 

$90,000 to $105,000 Annually

All compensation ranges are posted based on internal equity, job requirements, experience, and geographical locations.
