Sr Accountant
Job Description
Senior Accountant
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role is a critical intersection of technical accounting, operational efficiency, and cross-functional collaboration. You will be responsible for the integrity of our revenue cycle—from complex Gross-to-Net (GTN) calculations to managing global time-tracking systems and intercompany R&D Transfer Pricing.
The ideal candidate thrives in a high-compliance environment (SOX/SEC) and enjoys "connecting the dots" between third-party logistics data, internal R&D efforts, and final financial statements.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue & Financial Reporting
- GTN Management: Calculate Revenue and Gross-to-Net accounting, ensuring all deductions, rebates, and returns are accurately captured.
- Month-End Close: Lead reconciliation efforts for Revenue, GTN accounts, Deferred Revenue, and Accounts Receivable to ensure a timely and accurate close.
- Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls, FASB, and SEC pronouncements to ensure audit-ready financial reporting.
- Audit Support: Serve as a primary point of contact for external audit inquiries, providing necessary documentation and explanations for revenue-related queries.
Operational Analysis & Logistics
- 3PL Oversight: Frequently monitor Third-Party Logistics (3PL) data and activities to ensure data integrity and operational accuracy.
- Returns & Free Goods: Analyze and process product returns based on pricing eligibility; research and reject unauthorized units issued as "Free Goods."
- Trade Team Support: Partner with the Trade Team to resolve customer matters, specifically focusing on Customer Accounts Receivable health.
Strategic & Global Projects
- Intercompany R&D: Calculate monthly and quarterly intercompany transfer pricing revenue related to Pipeline Research and Development.
- Budgeting: Provide clean, actionable data to the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team for inclusion in the annual budget and rolling forecasts.
- Systems Management: Maintain and continuously update the Global Time and Labor System, ensuring company-wide project time tracking is accurate for internal reporting and capitalization.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3–5+ years of experience in accounting, specifically within revenue recognition or GTN accounting for a Life Sciences company.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of GAAP, SOX compliance, and SEC reporting requirements.
- System Savvy: Proficiency in ERP systems and time-tracking software; advanced Excel skills are a must.
- Analytical Mindset: Ability to reconcile complex data sets from multiple sources (3PL, R&D, and Sales).
- Communication: Comfortable collaborating across departments, from the Trade Team to FP&A and external auditors.
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $89,000 to $100,000. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual performance pay bonus.
