Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is a critical member of the Finance team, responsible for leading and executing key accounting functions including month-end close, financial reporting, and general ledger integrity. In a dynamic hospital environment, this role also contributes to process improvements, supports financial systems implementations and upgrades, and brings forward-thinking, innovative approaches to increase operational efficiency. A strong working knowledge of ERP systems such as Workday, EPIC, Insights, and Star is essential for success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
- Prepare, review, and analyze general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and variance reports.
- Drive process improvements and standardization initiatives to streamline accounting operations and reduce errors.
- Support the implementation and upgrade of financial systems (ERP and related), with a focus on configuration, testing, and end-user adoption.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to ensure data accuracy and alignment across systems.
- Leverage ERP tools (Workday, EPIC, Star, Insights) to generate business acumens, improve reporting capabilities, and support business decisions.
- Identify opportunities to innovate and improve accounting workflows, automation, and reporting.
- Monitor compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and applicable healthcare regulations.
- Assist with the preparation for external audits and regulatory reporting.
- Provide financial analysis and support for budgeting, forecasting, and special projects.
- Act as a knowledge resource and mentor to junior accounting team members.

Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare or hospital environment.
- Hands-on experience with Workday Financials and familiarity with EPIC and Star (or similar healthcare systems).
- Strong background in system implementations, upgrades, and data integrations is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies:
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP and hospital financial operations.
- Proficiency in Excel and strong aptitude for working with large datasets and reporting tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Demonstrated initiative in identifying and implementing innovative solutions.
