Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized, experienced, and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing private healthcare practice. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day accounting duties to support the financial health of the practice while maintaining the financial health of the practice, supporting leadership with data-driven financial insights, and ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory standards.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Financial Management & Reporting:
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Generate financial reports and analysis for leadership, highlighting key financial metrics, trends, and areas of concern
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements
  • Manage accounts payable processes, ensuring timely payment of invoices.
  • Perform journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy through double entry bookkeeping
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations for all organization accounts while ensuring accuracy and accountability
  • Completes set up new vendor accounts in accounting system, HRIS systems and other third-party vendor portals
  • Processes bi-weekly payroll, monthly, quarterly and yearly bonus payments for organization
  • Processes weekly bill pays and check runs
  • Creates monthly vendor and contract invoicing and tracks all open accounts payable and accounts receivable invoicing to ensure timely payment and recovery
  • Prepares daily, monthly bank deposits and records in accounting system
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
  • Reviews and reconciles vendor statements, benefits invoices and 401K statements
  • Assist with annual audits and corporate tax preparation in collaboration with CFO
  • Collaborate with operational, RCM and organizational departments and leadership for duties related to accounting, payroll and vendor relationships
  • Ensure compliance with technical accounting standards and relevant securities laws
  • Assist in governmental accounting tasks as necessary, ensuring adherence to regulations
  • Conducts in collaboration with CFO and other departments audits of vendor payments, benefits invoices, AP/AR invoicing
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes
  • Ensures accounting practices are in alignment with GAAP reporting requirements
  • All other duties as assigned


Required Skills/Abilities

  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial analysis, and accounting procedures.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or other healthcare-specific financial systems).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.


  • Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in healthcare accounting or financial management, with a solid understanding of healthcare revenue cycle management
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-physician practice environment
  • Proven experience in accounting or finance roles is preferred
  • Strong skills in financial report writing and analysis
  • Familiarity with governmental accounting principles and GAAP accounting principles
  • Proficiency with payroll processing, payroll tax reporting and HRIS systems
  • Knowledge of employee benefits including but not limited to (medical, dental, vision, 401K)
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel is essential
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills are required
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment


Education /Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field or skills and experience that align with the position’s needs. preferred CPA or CMA certification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in the healthcare sector or private medical practice.

  • Must be able to sit and type for extended periods of time.
