What We’re Looking For:

The Staff Accountant, Payroll & General Ledger will provide support across key financial processes including accounts payable, payroll processing, benefits reconciliation, bank reconciliations, and grant invoicing. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial records, timely payments, and smooth payroll operations, supporting the broader Finance Department objectives.


What You’ll Do:

- Grant Invoicing Process

1. Prepare monthly or quarterly invoices for County and other funding sources.

2. Assist with compiling financial data and supporting documentation for grant invoices.

3. Ensure accuracy in grant-related payroll and benefit allocations and other expenditures.

4. Prepare journal entries for review and submission to GL team.

5. Support Finance leadership with grant tracking and invoice submissions.

6. Support annual grant reporting and annual audit requirements.

7. Coordinate with the Program / Finance Leadership to develop annual budgets for the awarded grants.


 - Benefits Reconciliation

1. Reconcile monthly insurance and benefit invoices to payroll deductions.

2. Identify and correct discrepancies between carrier invoices and payroll records.

3. Prepare journal entries for benefit-related expenses.

4. Support HR and Finance during annual audits and compliance reviews.


- Cash Receipts

1. Prepare on a weekly or monthly basis all journal entries related to the cash receipts for all companies.

2. Update on a regular basis the outstanding receivables for the Grant Receivable and ensure accuracy of payments to invoices

submission to the county.

3. Prepare annual receivable reports for the audit requirements including subsequent cash receipt.

· Assist in the preparation of journal entries into the accounting system, Blackbaud NXT.

· Participate in and complete all required training courses

· Check work e-mail according to agency protocol


What We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 2–6 years of nonprofit accounting experience with a focus on payroll and general ledger reconciliation
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
