POSITION: Staff Accountant        

 

 

  • Position will be located in Grand Junction This is a hybrid position that will be in office 4 days per week.
  • Staff Accountant level and salary will be based on dependent on experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  •  Minimum of two (2) – five (5) years’ experience performing senior level accounting functions required. 
  • Requires documented computer proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Detail oriented with strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced setting

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for the following:

 

  • Works collaboratively with the Grants Manager and Program Directors to ensure all contracts and grants are recorded and billed in an accurate and timely manner.  Monitors revenues and accounts receivable balances by performing monthly reconciliations with grantors and contracting agencies and ensures timely resolution of outstanding issues.
  • Oversees the cash receipting process performed by other Finance staff; ensures all entries are accurately posted and backup documentation is complete.
  • Performs monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts and resolves outstanding items in a timely manner.
  • Maintains fixed asset records and associated depreciation schedules; ensures proper recording of new capital asset purchases, disposals and monthly entries using Sage Intacct’s Pre-paid module.
  • Maintains prepaid expense records and associated amortization schedules; ensures proper recording of new prepaid assets, write-off and monthly entries using Sage Intacct’s Fixed Asset module.
  • Manages petty cash accounts by reconciling to related receipts on a monthly basis.
  • Works collaboratively with Housing Case Manager to ensure HUD program reporting, billing and compliance items are completed according to contract specifications.
  • Assists with the annual audit process
  • Provides ad-hoc reports and detailed general ledger account analysis when requested
  • Maintains internal controls and safeguard Company assets in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices and the Accounting and Auditing Guidelines as adopted by the Colorado Office of Behavioral Health and Healthcare Policy and Financing.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 70% of the time
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer
  • Occasionally moves items up to 15 pounds
