We are seeking a Staff Accountant to support our growing organization and help ensure the financial strength behind our mission across our campuses and service lines in Hamilton, Dayton, and Mason. In this role, you’ll play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting monthly close processes, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. As a valued member of our Accounting team, you will collaborate closely with the Accounting Manager and internal departments to analyze financial data, reconcile accounts, and support reporting and audit processes.   • You are proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and comfortable learning new systems and technologies.
  • Experience in healthcare or nonprofit accounting—and familiarity with systems like PointClickCare or CareLogic—is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Posting general ledger journal entries.
  • Payroll entries posted in accounting system within seven days of the pay date.
  • Bank, investment and general ledger account reconciliations monthly.
  • Deposits made as needed.
  • Cash receipt entries posted daily.
  • Assistance in preparation of audit work papers.
  • Assist Accounting Manager with tax and cost report preparation.
  • Internal and external reporting, including special contract billing.
  • Interpret various system reports for accurate recording.
  • Able to prepare analytical reports and understand their relevance both currently and for the future.

  • Other duties as assigned and appropriate for the position.

Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor degree in Accounting, or 2 years relative experience.

Licenses or other required certifications: CPA or goal to obtain license is preferred but not required

Experience:   Previous experience in accounting, specifically with journal entries, account reconciliations and financial statement preparation.  Non-profit and/or healthcare experience including external reporting experience is desired.

Specialized knowledge, skills, or abilities:

  • Must possess excellent analytical/problem solving skills, attention to detail and is able to demonstrate strong financial acumen.
  • Employee must be depended upon for their integrity, confidentiality and discretion as they will have access/exposure to information and data that is sensitive in nature.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude and businesslike conduct. Able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and tasks without supervision.
  • Accepts and adapts well to organizational and departmental changes, as well as the rapidly changing healthcare reimbursement environment.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule in accordance with the needs of the department.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with various systems and accounting software.
  • Experience working with Electronic Health Record systems such as PointClickCare, Carelogic, is beneficial but not necessary.
