The Lifepoint Business Services (LBS) accounting team provides critical financial support to hospitals across our enterprise. How you’ll contribute
A Staff Accountant who excels in this role:
- Post and review journal entries for assigned facilities during the month-end close process.
- Ensure journal entries are submitted timely, posted accurately, and include appropriate support and approvals.
- Monitor assigned facilities for errors, rejections, or missing information and work with preparers, site liaisons, and internal teams to resolve issues.
- Support approximately five assigned facilities, with volume varying by facility and close cycle.
- Partner with site liaison teams and other LBS accounting teams to research and resolve journal entry questions.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including meeting deadlines and working extended hours as needed during close.
- Review entries for accuracy, completeness, and accounting validity.
- Communicate professionally with site liaisons and other stakeholders, including when follow-up or pushback is required.
- Support additional accounting activities during non-close periods, including potential support for the balance sheet team.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce errors, and support team efficiency.
- Pitch in to help teammates when needed and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
What we’re looking for
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Additional qualifications include:
Entry-level candidates will be considered; prior accounting experience is preferred but not required.
Prior journal entry experience is a plus.
Healthcare accounting experience is not required; the team is open to training on healthcare-specific processes.
Strong attention to detail and ability to review work for accuracy.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, especially during month-end close.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to follow up with site liaisons, preparers, and internal partners to resolve issues.
Willingness to ask questions, take initiative, and help the team when needed.
Basic understanding of accounting concepts, including journal entries and debits/credits, preferred.
Comfortable learning accounting systems, reporting tools, and internal processes.
Availability to work standard business hours, generally 8:00 AM–5:00 PM outside of close, with extended hours and occasional close-weekend support as needed.
Salary Range: $51,611 - $69,675 per year.
