(This role has a hybrid schedule with 3 days in office and 2 days flex-remote)

The UHS Corporate Tax Department is seeking a Tax Accountant to prepare simple to moderate Federal and State tax returns, estimates, and extensions filed for the consolidated group and affiliates including preparation of accurate tax work papers.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Tax Compliance Reporting
- Prepares and documents accurate tax work papers for simple to moderately complicated income and franchise tax returns.
- Prepares Federal income and State income and franchise tax returns.
- Prepares Partnership returns.
- Responds to questions related to prepared returns. All tax returns and work papers are subject to detailed review and approval by department management.
State Tax Estimate and Extension Compliance
- Prepares State tax estimates as assigned.
- Responds to review questions related to estimates and related compliance issues.
Provide administrative support to the Tax Department
- Maintains and organizes tax files and records system in SharePoint
- Maintains and updates organization chart
- Coordinates dissolutions, mergers, registrations, and IRS documents both within and outside the tax department.
- Assists with pulling trial balances, journal entries, and other similar reports from the accounting system.
- Assists and provides support with the non-income tax function, as needed.
Supports tax planning and tax research
- Includes creating ownership charts for the existing and proposed entity structure for potential deals and new entity formations.
IRS and State Audits
- Provides support and analysis, as necessary.
- Includes responding to, with manager approval, and resolving notices received from Federal and State jurisdictions.
Performs other duties as assigned/required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required a minimum of one to three years of relevant experience.
- Familiarity with internet-based tax research techniques.
- Familiar with tax return compliance software – preferably CORPTAX & SAGE.
- Federal and state corporate and partnership tax experience.
- Basic understanding of Corporate and Partnership taxes.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word and Microsoft Outlook.
- Strong time management skills with the capacity to prioritize and multitask to meet statutory and internal deadlines.
- Project management, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, and oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional and fast-paced team environment.
- Strong goal orientation with a sense of urgency and attention to detail.
