Treasury Staff Accountant – Full Time

Location: Salisbury, MD
 Salary Range: $70,000–$110,000 annually
 Schedule: 4‑day, 36-hour work week — Monday through Thursday

Position Summary
 The Treasury Staff Accountant supports the financial operations of a nonprofit organization by managing cash flow, banking activities, and financial transactions. This role ensures accurate recording of cash activity, compliance with donor restrictions, and adherence to nonprofit accounting standards. The position plays a key role in maintaining the organization’s financial integrity and supporting its mission-driven programs. This position is in person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily cash balances across operating and restricted funds 
  • Prepare and maintain cash position and liquidity reports 
  • Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies 
  • Process ACH payments, wire transfers, and check disbursements 
  • Record cash receipts, including donations, grants, and program revenue 
  • Track and reconcile restricted vs. unrestricted funds in accordance with donor requirements 
  • Assist with short-term cash forecasting and grant spending projections 
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries related to cash 
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards 
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, grant agreements, and organizational policies 
  • Assist with audits and preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules 
  • Collaborate with development (fundraising) and program teams to track incoming funds 
  • Maintain relationships with banks and support treasury-related documentation 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience; nonprofit experience preferred 
  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles (including fund accounting) 
  • Familiarity with donor-restricted funds and grant reporting is a plus 
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., Blackbaud, NetSuite, QuickBooks) 
  • Strong Excel skills (e.g., formulas, pivot tables) 
  • High level of integrity and ability to manage confidential financial data
