Your Role 

The Ascendiun Finance – Chief of Staff is a team of one, that strategizes, implements and works cross functionally for the Chief Financial Officer. 

The Vice President – Ascendiun Finance – Chief of Staff will report to the Chief Financial Officer and work at the parent holding company, Ascendiun. 

In this role, you will be responsible for being the Chief Financial Officers key strategist and thought partner, having a lens on the entire family of company businesses.  The role will implement key cross-different projects, focusing on strengthening the financial processes and our businesses.

Responsibilities

Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as the Chief Financial Officer’s principal strategic advisor, shaping priorities, sequencing, governance, and execution across the Ascendiun family of companies.
  • Translate enterprise and CFO priorities into annual and quarterly objectives, roadmaps, operating plans, performance measures, and executive-ready updates.
  • Lead high-impact, cross-functional Finance initiatives that align leaders, resources, and decisions around the organization’s most critical strategic and financial priorities.
  • Direct the operating cadence of the Office of the CFO, including leadership forums, decision processes, agendas, action tracking, ownership, and timely follow-through.
  • Drive transparency and accountability across the initiative portfolio by monitoring milestones, risks, dependencies, decisions, and measurable outcomes.
  • Represent the CFO in key internal and external engagements, strengthen communications with executives, board members, and partners, and ensure consistent follow-through on commitments.
  • Build trusted relationships across a highly matrixed organization and lead or influence high-performing teams to improve decision quality, integration, and enterprise outcomes.

Qualifications

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; an MBA or other relevant advanced degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressively responsible experience in finance, strategy, business operations, or enterprise transformation, including significant leadership experience.
  • Demonstrates deep financial and business acumen, including experience with multi-year financial strategy, enterprise performance management, KPI frameworks, and executive- and board-level reporting.           
  • Brings experience supporting multiple businesses or legal entities in a highly regulated environment, with knowledge of both nonprofit and for-profit reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Translating complex financial, operational, and strategic issues into clear recommendations, practical roadmaps, and decision-ready narratives for senior executives and boards.
  • Led complex, cross-functional initiatives from strategy through execution while balancing competing priorities, managing risk and interdependencies, and meeting critical deadlines.
  • Has built direct and matrixed teams without relying on formal authority, aligning diverse stakeholders around enterprise priorities and outcomes.
  • Communicates with exceptional clarity and executive presence, building trusted relationships with senior leaders, board members, and internal and external partners.
  • Applies sound judgment, structured problem-solving, attention to detail, and a bias for action in fast-paced, ambiguous, and highly visible situations.    
  • Handles sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and the highest degree of integrity while ensuring accurate records, timely reporting, and disciplined follow-through.
