Visiting Nurse Association is seeking an experienced, mission-driven Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer to serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. This role provides strategic financial leadership, operational oversight, and fiscal stewardship to support the long-term sustainability and growth of the organization. The CFO leads financial strategy, budgeting, reporting, compliance, risk management, and financial operations while partnering closely with the President/CEO, Board of Directors, and organizational leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, payroll, cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and risk management.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to the President/CEO, Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and executive leadership team.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on annual and multi-year budgets that support organizational sustainability and mission-aligned growth.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and maintain compliance with federal, state, nonprofit, healthcare, Medicare/Medicaid, grant, donor, and IRS requirements.
  • Lead preparation and review of audits, financial statements, annual filings, Form 990s, cost reports, and other required regulatory submissions.
  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, investment oversight, and asset protection practices.
  • Partner with program, philanthropy, strategy, IT, facilities, billing, and leadership teams to align financial resources with organizational priorities.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support finance, billing, IT, and facilities team members.
  • Present clear financial insights, trends, forecasts, portfolio performance, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred.
  • CPA, MBA, or MHA preferred.
  • Eight or more years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in a nonprofit, healthcare, public health, or mission-driven environment.
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit finance, GAAP, internal controls, audits, IRS compliance, Form 990s, Medicare/Medicaid cost reporting, third-party reimbursements, and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Experience with financial management systems; NetSuite experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial information, communicate clearly with diverse audiences, and translate financial data into strategic recommendations.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and related technology tools.
