Position Description
The Accountant supports general ledger accounting for domestic entities at Applied Medical, with a focus on revenue and lease accounting under United States generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP). Working as an Accountant, this team member prepares journal entries, reconciles balance sheet accounts, and analyzes revenue contracts to determine proper accounting treatment. The role contributes to an accurate and timely month-end close and supports quarterly financial reporting and year-end audits. The Accountant helps maintain sound accounting practices and internal controls across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist team with the month end closing process as it pertains to general ledger accounting for domestic entities.
- Prepare, park, and save journal entries in SAP.
- Prepare, monitor and maintain monthly balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure all revenue related, ASC 842 lease-related and other GL accounts are appropriately reviewed and approved on a timely basis by designated reviewers and approvers.
- Maintain and manage Contract Lease Management module in SAP.
- Assist in the preparation of support for quarterly financial statements including statement of cash flow support schedules.
- Coordinate and gather information from team members and prepare interim and year-end audit schedules as requested by the external auditors.
- Assist with internal controls walkthrough and testing.
- Assist in the design and execution of effective internal controls to ensure appropriate accounting treatment is applied to all company transactions.
- Prepare monthly flux analysis.
- Maintain documentation of company-wide accounting policies and procedures.
- Assist domestic team in developing, maintaining, and monitoring accounting practices to ensure they comply with US GAAP and company policies.
- Review and analyze revenue contracts and sales arrangements to ensure proper revenue accounting treatment in accordance with US GAAP.
- Participate in the monthly and quarterly customer revenue rebate process, including assurance of accurate and timely accruals and payment.
- Complete surveys and forms requested by authoritative agencies in a timely manner, as needed.
- Assist in the Delaware franchise tax payments and annual reporting process.
- Participate in the implementation of accounting system enhancements.
- Assist with special projects and ad-hoc requests, as assigned.
Success in This Role Looks Like
- Deliver accurate journal entries and reconciliations that support a clean and timely month-end close.
- Apply US GAAP correctly to revenue contracts, lease accounting, and complex transactions.
- Produce audit-ready schedules and documentation that keep audits on schedule.
- Maintain internal controls that ensure proper accounting treatment across company transactions.
- Communicate clearly with team members, reviewers, and approvers at all levels of the organization.
Position Requirements
This Position Requires the Following Skills and Attributes
- Four-year bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with an emphasis in accounting.
- Minimum of two years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
- Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting under US GAAP.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet month-end and quarter-end close and reporting deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
Preferred
The Following Skills and Attributes Are Preferred
- Experience with revenue recognition and ASC 842 lease accounting.
- Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as SAP.
- Familiarity with month-end close, audit support, and financial statement preparation.
