Accounting Manager

Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing core accounting operations, including month-end and year-end closing, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit and tax support. This role partners closely with the Director of Finance and cross-functional leaders on special projects, process improvements, and new business initiatives. The position requires strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, multi-entity healthcare environment.This is a hybrid position based out of our office in Quincy, MA.
Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage and support the full month-end close cycle for approximately thirty-five legal entities, including preparation of internal reporting packages.
- Record and analyze monthly revenue and cost allocations.
- Perform monthly balance sheet, cash flow, and P&L variance analysis to ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance.
- Complete and review balance sheet reconciliations.
- Oversee and manage the month-end close process and calendar.
- Manage the daily activities of the Accounts Payable and Payroll teams.
- Prepare and review monthly partner reporting packages.
- Collaborate across the Shields network to gather financial data required for close and reporting.
- Prepare year-end schedules and work papers to support tax filings and external audits.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of close and reporting activities.
- Support the budgeting process and partner with the FP&A team.
- Respond to ad hoc financial analyses and special projects as requested.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- CPA required.
- Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience.
- Healthcare industry experience preferred.
- Multi-entity accounting experience preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills required.
- Proficiency with accounting systems; experience with Sage/AccPac preferred.
Physical and Other Requirements
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to assist patients with mobility difficulties.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift to twenty-five pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay range for this position is $70,000-$132,000 + benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
