Description

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for accurately compiling and processing employee payroll data, including earnings and deductions, following established practices and regulations. Perform accounts receivable functions, and backup for other day-to-day accounting activities.


Essential Responsibilities:

· Collect, compile, prepare and process payroll data ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws by established deadlines using timekeeping and payroll software. Correct payroll discrepancies in a timely manner.

· Process and monitor garnishment orders and bi-weekly submissions of FSA and 403b files.

· Complete and reconcile quarterly and annual payroll reports, including W-2, taxable wages, and 403b census.

· Maintain employee payroll records, including timekeeping data, deductions, and benefit contributions and archive payroll records following retention guidelines.

· Ensure adherence to organizational accounting policies, internal controls, and grant/contract requirements in support of external audits.

· Be an educational resource for payroll issues, compliance, and regulations, addressing employee inquiries.

· Collaborate with department managers and Human Resources to coordinate employee changes, new hires, and leave requests.

· Perform accounts receivable functions to include review, coding, and processing of customer invoices, applying payments, follow up of outstanding balances, compliance with organizational policies and maintain organized and accurate accounting files and records for audit readiness.

· Perform as a backup for accounting activities, including accounts payable, general ledger, P-card program and banking.

· Participate and engage in any required program, committee or IC meetings with or in place of leadership.

· This position may also require the performance of other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

· Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field and three years of payroll experience.

· Knowledge of federal and state of Colorado payroll regulations and requirements.

· Experience with Paylocity preferred.

· Home Health industry payroll experience preferred.

· Experience working with people with disabilities preferred.

· Lived experience with a disability preferred.


Travel:

· Local travel to partners, collaborators, and vendors for official IC related business and events may be required.

· Must have a valid driver’s license and car insurance.


Working Conditions:

· Office environment requiring ongoing computer use and extended amount of time sitting or standing.

· Frequently lift, push, pull, up to 10 lbs. 

· Internet access to work remotely if protocols are issued for remote work.
