Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM

JOB TITLE: Accounting Specialist II  
REPORTS TO: Controller/Finance Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
JOB OVERVIEW: This position is responsible for performing clinic-wide payment reconciliations and managing related corporate reporting.  In addition, will be responsible for performing some general ledger and general accounting functions within the Accounting department.  


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:


  1. Prepare daily cash reconciliation of payments clearing the bank account and posted to Franciscan Medical Group accounts receivable.  Reconcile differences through research in Dynamics SL and discussion with representatives of other Franciscan Medical Group entities.  Prepare appropriate journal entries and prepare reconciliation worksheets.

  2. Maintain the accounting software at the direction of the Controller/Finance Manager (modifying chart of accounts, F/S formats, etc.)

  3. Enter standard journal entries to the accounting system.

  4. Manage logs, documentation, and communication between The Doctors Clinic staff and Franciscan Medical Group for payment transfers.

  5. Manage documentation and communication for accounts payable including matching purchase orders.

  6. Prepare monthly financial reports and General Ledger.

  7. Perform Accounts Payable and Payroll Processing for The Doctors Clinic as needed.

  8. Prepare special reports and account reconciliations as needed.

  9. Process expense reimbursements of physicians and employee expenses.

  10. Adhere to the policies of internal control related to the Accounts Payable function.

  11. Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Education: Associates degree in Business or related field.


Experience: Three years of accounting experience or, equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills:


  1. Demonstrated ability and knowledge of Excel.

  2. General knowledge of medical insurance processing and patient accounting systems.

  3. Ability to maintain a positive attitude in adverse situations.

  4. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

  5. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  6. Ability to meet deadlines.

  7. Ability to perform tasks assigned with minimal errors while maintaining high quality standards.

  8. Willingness and ability to suggest and communicate improvements to work flow processes and procedures to counterparts in the Franciscan Medical Group system.

  9. Willingness and ability to function as a team member and work effectively in groups to address issues.

  10. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  11. Ability, with or without accommodation, to perform essential requirements of the job.


Physical Requirements:

1. Hearing:  Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.  

2. Speaking:  Must be able to communicate clearly to patients and coworkers in person and over the telephone.

3. Vision:  Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.                     

4. Other:  The position is mostly sitting with standing and walking occasionally throughout the day. Requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing less than 5 pounds and occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 pounds. Requires occasional bending and reaching.

The current hourly wage range is $21.83 to $30.57.

You may be eligible for additional pay to include weekend premium, shift premium and other premiums outlined in the CBA.  Compensation and benefit eligibility are based off of FTE, assigned job classification/description, and complies with current union agreements.
