The Corporate Accountant supports the Company's inventory and manufacturing accounting processes through journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analyses, and month-end close activities. This role partners closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Finance to ensure accurate inventory valuation, product costing, and financial reporting. The position also supports SOX compliance, internal controls, inventory audits, and continuous process improvement within a fast-paced medical device manufacturing environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant looking to expand into inventory and cost accounting. We welcome candidates with backgrounds in public accounting, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, audit, corporate accounting, financial analysis, or inventory and cost accounting experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Month-End Close & General Accounting

  • Prepare and post journal entries related to inventory, cost of goods sold, reserves, accruals, and other assigned accounts.
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations with supporting documentation.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Perform account analyses and explain monthly balance fluctuations.

Inventory & Manufacturing Accounting

  • Prepare inventory reconciliations and inventory roll-forwards.
  • Assist with inventory valuation and inventory reserve calculations.
  • Analyze inventory and manufacturing cost variances, including purchase price, production, and standard cost variances, to support financial reporting and operational decision-making.
  • Support annual standard cost updates and ongoing standard cost maintenance.
  • Review inventory transactions for accuracy and completeness, and assist with related costing analyses.
  • Prepare recurring inventory, cost of goods sold, and manufacturing cost analyses for management reporting.

Operational Support

  • Support warehouse cycle count and annual field inventory audit programs (may involve occasional travel to plant/warehouse sites; standard PPE provided).
  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Manufacturing to investigate inventory and costing issues.

Controls & Compliance

  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Support SOX compliance and internal control documentation.
  • Ensure accounting activities comply with U.S. GAAP and Company policies.

Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Assist with recurring management reporting related to inventory, cost of goods sold, and operational metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency, including through the use of automation and AI-powered tools.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 2-5 years of experience in accounting, audit, financial reporting, corporate accounting, FP&A, or other finance-related roles.
  • Manufacturing, inventory accounting, or cost accounting experience is preferred but not required.
  • Exposure to audits and internal controls preferred.
  • ERP systems and data mining experience a plus.
  • Experience with PowerBI a plus
  • CPA or progress toward CPA a plus.

  • Familiarity with AI-powered tools (such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies) for data analysis, reporting, or process automation is a plus.
  • Interest in applying AI and automation to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of accounting workflows.

Salary Range

Alphatec Spine, Inc. complies with state and federal wage and hour laws and compensation depends upon candidate’s qualifications, education, skill set, years of experience, and internal equity. $80,000 - $100,000 Full-Time annual salary
