Position Overview
Korsana Biosciences is seeking a highly skilled Manager / Senior Manager, Accounting & External Reporting to join our growing Finance team. Reporting directly to the Controller, this individual will play a critical role in establishing and maintaining the company’s financial reporting infrastructure as we scale toward becoming a public company. This role will be central to supporting external reporting, technical accounting, SOX compliance, and key close activities. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, public accounting training, and deep experience in life sciences. This is an exciting opportunity to help build scalable accounting and reporting processes during a pivotal stage of company growth.
Responsibilities
· Lead or support the preparation of external financial reporting, including SEC filings such as Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and S-1, as applicable
· Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and emerging accounting standards
· Draft and maintain financial statement footnotes, MD&A sections, and other supporting disclosures
· Partner with Legal, executive leadership, and external advisors to ensure accuracy and consistency of financial reporting
· Lead month-end and quarter-end close fluctuation analysis, including preparation and review of balance sheet and income statement variance analyses
· Support key accounting areas including R&D accruals, stock-based compensation, equity accounting, and expense recognition
· Perform technical accounting research and prepare accounting memos for complex or unusual transactions
· Lead or support SOX 404(b) internal control design, implementation, testing, and remediation
· Partner with external auditors and internal stakeholders to maintain strong internal controls and compliance processes
· Develop scalable accounting processes and controls to support a growing biotech organization
· Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, HR, FP&A, Legal, and external advisors to ensure accurate and timely financial information
· Support systems implementations and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reporting quality
Education & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
· CPA strongly preferred
· 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience
· Big Four public accounting experience strongly preferred
· Experience supporting life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical clients required
· Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and technical accounting
· Experience with stock-based compensation, equity accounting, R&D accruals, and financial statement fluctuation analysis
· Experience with SOX 404(b) design, implementation, or testing
· Experience in public or pre-IPO biotech/life sciences companies preferred
· Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools preferred

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $135,000 - $175,000. This role may also be eligible for a target annual bonus and equity-based compensation, as well as participation in the company’s benefit programs. Actual compensation will depend on several factors, which may include, but are not limited to relevant years of experience, educational background, and geography.
