Position Summary
As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our organization. You will be responsible for preparing monthly financial statements, performing detailed account reconciliations, managing fixed asset records, and contributing to financial modeling and analysis across multiple entities. Your expertise will help ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations, supporting our mission to provide exceptional care and service to our residents.
Essential Functions, Key Duties, & Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements for all communities and operating entities assigned.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Collect and review all applicable information from source documents to support journal entries.
- Reconcile intercompany accounts and manage allocations across multiple entities or communities.
- Maintain fixed asset and capital budget subsidiary ledger, ensuring timely and accurate entry of all capital expenditures and disposals.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining capital budget/capital plans, reconciling to general ledger and preparing journal entries as necessary.
- Assist finance staff as requested in the preparation of audit work papers, cost report work papers, budget, and other projects and analysis as assigned.
- Assist with financial modeling and other analysis for various entities and services.
- Collaborate with other departments and community leaders on financial questions and reporting needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and procedures and any updates.
Position Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
Licenses/Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
Experience: 5+ years of experience in accounting/finance
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Keen attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Proficiency with Yardi, DSSI, or other major ERP system preferred
