Tax Accountant Senior
Job Description
HealthPartners is hiring a Senior Accountant. This role responsible for the preparation, analysis and filing of HealthPartners’ tax returns. This includes, 990’s, 1120’s, M-4’s, Provider tax, Premium tax, and other related tax filings. Liaison for all tax related issues requests or filings. They must understand current tax laws as it relates to both for profit and not for profit entities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred with some emphasis on tax. Four to six years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years of tax experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong PC and systems background with proven efficiency in spreadsheet and relational database software.
Ability to analyze data, research accounting principles and methodologies, and work independently.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Proficient in operating: Personal computer (spreadsheet, word processing, and database applications), mainframe software, printer, telephone, calculator, fax, and photocopier.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. (60%) - Prepares and files federal and state income tax returns for all HealthPartners entities, including 990s, 990Ts, M4s, 1120s, 1065s, M-3s, and Minnesota Charitable Organization Annual Reports.
2. (15%) – Preparation, analysis, and filings of miscellaneous tax filings including Insurance provider tax in several states; Insurance Premium taxes, Medicaid Surcharge taxes and sales tax returns.
3. (15%) – Monthly reconciliations and journal entries for tax related accounts.
4. (10%) – Special project work related to tax audits and research.
