About the Role
Responsible for processing payroll, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing accounting support for a multi-entity nonprofit organization. This position ensures timely payroll administration and support for monthly financial reporting.
This is a hybrid position located in downtown Sacramento requiring four days a week (Monday – Thursday) in the office; Fridays are remote.
You Will
- Process bi-weekly payroll for employees across multiple nonprofit entities.
- Maintain payroll records, employee earnings, deductions, benefits, garnishments, and tax withholdings.
- Review and verify employee timesheets, leave balances, and payroll changes.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Prepare payroll reports and reconcile payroll-related accounts.
- Coordinate payroll tax filings and year-end reporting, including W-2s and other required forms.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations monthly.
- Reconcile and monitor bank and investment statements monthly.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements according to distribution schedule.
- Review and validate accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Assist with grant reporting and tracking of program expenditures.
- Prepare and file property tax reports, sales tax reports, quarterly tax filings, and other reports or forms as necessary.
- Monitor and maintain supporting documentation in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards and audit requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
