Job Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing core accounting operations, including month-end and year-end closing, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit and tax support. This role partners closely with the Director of Finance and cross-functional leaders on special projects, process improvements, and new business initiatives. The position requires strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, multi-entity healthcare environment.

This is a hybrid position based out of our office in Quincy, MA.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities

Manage and support the full month-end close cycle for approximately thirty-five legal entities, including preparation of internal reporting packages.
Record and analyze monthly revenue and cost allocations.
Perform monthly balance sheet, cash flow, and P&L variance analysis to ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance.
Complete and review balance sheet reconciliations.
Oversee and manage the month-end close process and calendar.
Manage the daily activities of the Accounts Payable and Payroll teams.
Prepare and review monthly partner reporting packages.
Collaborate across the Shields network to gather financial data required for close and reporting.
Prepare year-end schedules and work papers to support tax filings and external audits.
Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of close and reporting activities.
Support the budgeting process and partner with the FP&A team.
Respond to ad hoc financial analyses and special projects as requested.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
CPA required.
Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience.
Healthcare industry experience preferred.
Multi-entity accounting experience preferred.
Advanced Excel skills required.
Proficiency with accounting systems; experience with Sage/AccPac preferred.

Physical and Other Requirements

Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
Ability to assist patients with mobility difficulties.
Ability to push, pull, and lift to twenty-five pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay range for this position is $70,000-$132,000 + benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
